Day of Rest

Well John went on the tour of Black Lady Mountain and the temples and Rylie and I stayed home. We had a lazy morning, getting up at 630am, then dosing from 7-8ish and again from 9-10ish. After the sun went down and it was a bit cooler( and Dad came home) we went for a dip in the pool. Miss Rylie slept through most of dinner, so she is not going down very easy right now. Her exczema is not really better, but keeping her out of the heat helped a lot today. She was not near as fussy!!!

Today was even tougher for Rylie. The exczema rash is pretty much covering most of her face (even her eyelids and ears!!!) so we took her to the International clinic in hopes that they would be able to give us something that is not a steroid. They couldn't, but they did give us something milder than what the other Dr gave us. John and Rylie just hung out today in the a/c while I had a spa day after we had an appt with Sandy to fill out some CIS papers for next week. John is going on a trip all day tomorrow to a mountain and temples, I am going to stay home with her.

Hopefully, we'll have pictures tomorrow.

Today was a HOT one!! We went to the Cu Chi tunnels for the afternoon and that did not please little missy one bit!!! It was crazy hot..We are pretty sure that all the fussiness (she is still really fussy) is the exczema that is on her face. It really came out in full force today. She is so much like her sister, huh? Anyway, John went to the pharmacy and got the medicine that the doctor suggested (they don't have what we have in the US for it). Hopefully she'll wake up happy. I did get a few smiley shots today and I've posted them. We went to Diamond plaza today which has a great big fancy department store and got Rylie two new V Tech toys as the baby toys we brought don't seem to keep her interest. Its strange, but the US toys here are very expensive. We paid 2x what they would have cost in the US. Go figure. We don't have any appts again until next week, so tomorrow is spa day for me and John and the baby are planning to just hang out. With her head and face so broken out and the new medicine we are going to try to keep her out of the sun and heat.

Ups and Downs!!!

Today was a tougher day for Rylie..she was very very very fussy and still is at 915pm. One minute she is giggling (too cute), the next minute screaming...we think it might be teething because she is chomping hard on everything in site!! We uploaded a picture of her holding her own bottle..such talent!!!! We tried biter biscuits (banana ones) today. She loved them!!! We did a little shopping (mostly dresses for the girls), but she just was too upset for much.. Tonight we went to the Caravelle Hotel for dinner with another couple and their new baby girl, Ellie. It was pretty fancy and they had food like home...John has been eating quite well..tonight he had lamb and crabs and steak+++last night he had the biggest rack of ribs anyone had ever seen at Al Frescos (an Australian owned place). Enjoy the pictures..hopefully tomorrow we'll have more. There really weren't too many smiles today!

Giving and Receiving

Today we had our G&R ceremony at 230pm and then John went to apply for her passport. Basically, the Vietnamese portion of the adoption is complete..on to the US!!! This AM we went to get a new baby stroller and some more toys for Miss Rylie as she is so alert and curious and totally wants to play!!! No big plans for tonight and tomorrow is a free day, so we'll probably shop!! and maybe dip our toes in the pool..I think Rylie will like it, she loved her bath. She didn't really nap much today at least not for more than 30-40 minutes, so it will be interesting to see if we really develop a schedule???!!!!!!! Enjoy the pictures.

It is a Good Morning!!!

HI! Well, it was a GREAT first night..hope that doesn't change. Rylie took a bottle at 9pm, was out by 915pm and didn't wake up til 620am and even then she was giggling!!! We haven't heard her cry very much, but at the orphanage they nick named her "rooster" because of her loud cocka doodle doo cries, so we shall see. That was in the wonderful two page letter the orphange gave us. The Doctor who came to see us last night read it to us. She was given a 100% clean bill of health!!! She weighs about 14 pounds and is almost 27 inches. We thought she'd weigh even less, she seems like a really tiny peanut. Her features are tiny, except she does have bigger lips (like her sister!!) I'll post more pictures later on, after we do something today. Rylie and Daddy just both fell asleep again (its around 730am here). We have our giving and recieving ceremony sometime later this afternoon, so we are going to go shopping for a stroller etc this morning.
Thanks for all the wonderful comments!!!

She is OURS!!!

Today was a big day. We went with two families to Tam Binh orphanage and watched them get their children and then John and I went to Picasso and got Rylie. She is very tiny and petite like her big sister. She has been very alert and awake and loves to have something in her mouth (like her thumb!!! or her teether) She'll suck either thumb, just like Lexi and you'll noticwe I included a picture of when I was feeding her and she plays with her EAR!!!! She is so much like Lex!!!I uploaded a few pictures, we don't have a great connection in the room (hopefully better tonight) so I am in the business center. Rylie is sleeping now.

Hi all. Just a quick one now. Its 12:30 AM Sat night in HCMC and we have arrived and checked in to our hotel. We will not be getting Miss Rylie until Monday, so tomorrow is a day to hang out and recover from the 24 flight and get ready for her.
